چکیده

This study analyzed the effect of lightweight aggregates made fly ash from sewage-sludge thermal treatment (FASSTT LWA) on effectiveness phosphorus removal wastewater in vertical constructed wetlands (CWs), depending FASSTT LWA content CW filling and hydraulic loading rate. It was performed over 13 weeks using 15 lysimeters prepared as double-layer systems. An upper layer above gravel with different thicknesses (CW 0 cm: only gravel; 12 cm, 25 cm; 50 100 LWA). Each variant repeated three times. Wastewater a mean concentration 7.43 mgP/L fed to once day. The rates tested were 3.0, 5.0, 7.0 mm/d. Both increased decreasing rate found boost treated wastewater. Constructed wetland filled % ensured reduction below 2.0 mg P/L at all tested.

Leachability of Heavy Metals from Lightweight Aggregates Made with Sewage Sludge and Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Fly Ash

Lightweight aggregate (LWA) production with sewage sludge and municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash is an effective approach for waste disposal. This study investigated the stability of heavy metals in LWA made from sewage sludge and MSWI fly ash. Leaching tests were conducted to find out the effects of MSWI fly ash/sewage sludge (MSWI FA/SS) ratio, sintering temperature and sinteri...

Fly ash based lightweight aggregates incorporating clay binders

This study focuses on the strength characterization of artificial fly ash aggregates produced from a pelletization process. Additionally, to improve the stability and strength properties of fly ash aggregates clay binders such as bentonite and metakaolin are added during the production. Physical properties such as specific gravity, bulk density, water absorption, gradation and individual crushi...

Comparison of phosphorus recovery from incineration and gasification sewage sludge ash.

Incineration of sewage sludge is a common practice in many western countries. Gasification is an attractive option because of its high energy efficiency and flexibility in the usage of the produced gas. However, they both unavoidably produce sewage sludge ashes, a material that is rich in phosphorus, but which is commonly landfilled or used in construction materials. With current uncertainty in...

Treatment of fly ash from power plants using thermal plasma

Fly ash from power plants is very toxic because it contains heavy metals. In this study fly ash was treated with a thermal plasma. Before their treatment, the fly ash was analyzed by many technics such as X-ray fluorescence, CHN elemental analysis, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. With these technics, the composition, the chemical and phy...
